Insights from the 2021 Land and Groundwater Conference presented by the Australasian Land and Groundwater Association (ALGA). The virtual conference was a welcome opportunity to keep abreast of new developments within the contaminated land industry.

We extend our congratulations to Megan Crossen a talented young Engineer, based in our Orewa office, on being awarded a place at the Rotary Young-Person Leadership Awards (RYLA).

The annual stormwater conference, run by Water New Zealand’s Stormwater Group, was held in Tauranga from the 12th to the 14th of May and Cato Bolam sent several representatives to keep up to speed with what is happening in the stormwater sector.

The RMA Review is now officially underway. Recommendations made by the Randerson Resource Management Review Panel in mid-2020 are to be adopted. The RMA will be replaced by three new pieces of legislation – a Natural and Built Environments Act (NBEA); a Strategic Planning Act (SPA); and a Managed Retreat and Climate Change Adaptation Act (CCA).
