Following a detailed site investigation, another consultant identified approximately 144 cubic metres of contaminated soil on the site and prepared a Remedial Action Plan (RAP) that proposed to excavate and dispose of the soil off-site.
The subdivision consent subsequently issued included a requirement to implement the RAP and remediate the site. We oversaw implementation of a modified RAP after the original consultant conducted further investigation and reduced the estimated volume of contaminated soil to 5.26 cubic metres.
We collected pre-excavation validation samples and ultimately further reduced the volume of excavated soil to 2.8 cubic metres, saving the client thousands of dollars.
Validation sampling confirmed that the soil contamination had been removed, a Site Validation Report was prepared and submitted to satisfy applicable consent conditions.
